medical pain management

As a patient of P.R.I.M.E. Health Centers, we will discuss the pain you are experiencing to determine if therapeutic pain injections are right for you. For example, if a herniated disc  causes the pain, you might be a candidate for a therapeutic nerve block for an immediate but temporarily relief. On the other hand, painful  areas of muscle tissue that do not want to relax may be treated with therapeutic injections directly into the knots of the muscles to relieve referred pain affecting a nearby joint. Epidural steroid injections are performed under guidance of x-ray imaging to allow the doctor to insert  the needle between spinal bones into an epidural space where the medication reduces swelling and irritation that causes compression of nearby spinal nerves.

Non-Surgical Injections for Pain Management

By focusing on how pain affects the movement of your muscles, nerves  and joints, we can individualize interventional procedures for pain  management, therapeutic pain injections and peripheral nerve stimulation to address both the physical and emotional aspects of pain control.

Services performed in office include:

  • Trigger Point Injections - Trigger points cause  physical "knots" in muscle tissue and are treated using an injection  directly into the trigger point to reduce tension. When targeted muscles  release, pain relief is often felt in soft tissue and nearby joints.

  • Facet Joint Injections - Facet joints located in  the spine can become inflamed causing pain with extension after sitting  too long or standing too long. Irritated facet joint tissue and nerves can also produce radiating symptoms and interfere with nerve root signals.

  • Epidural Steroid Injections - Epidural Injections (or ESI's) are injected directly into the epidural space of the  cervical, thoracic or lumbar areas of the spine. This reduces  inflammation and can relieve pain along with radiating symptoms.

  • Joint Injections - These are injections directly  into a joint such as the knee or shoulder.  A small amount of steroid is used to reduce inflammation and reduce pain.

  • Radiofrequency Nerve Ablation - Radiofrequency ablation (or RFA) is a procedure used to reduce pain from damaged  nerves. During this procedure, electrical current produced by a radio  wave is used to heat up a small area of dysfunctional nerve tissue, thereby decreasing pain signals from that specific area. This procedure  is performed after a trial of MBB injections.

Drug-Free Pain Relief

Since your brain manages signals up and down your spinal cord to open and close nerve gates, Our doctors rely on these non-surgical techniques to prevent messages from causing pain and discomfort. This is why long-term narcotic use often fails to mask pain signals related to sensory factors, such as poor body mechanics, negative thoughts about pain and anxieties from everyday stress that  promote chronic suffering when pain gates are left open. By applying the latest pain management  technology, therapeutic pain injections, physiotherapy, chiropractic adjustment and ongoing support, we tailor each treatment plan specifically to your needs.
